Discover Chicago’s Arts & Crafts Legacy
Join us for a captivating look at Chicago’s Arts & Crafts era—an inspiring movement that championed the handmade in response to industrialization. Rooted in the artistry of jewelry and metalwork, this movement united beauty with everyday life.
Sparked by the 1893 World’s Fair, women artists trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and went on to establish influential studios across the city and suburbs. Their creativity and determination shaped a legacy of craftsmanship, community, and innovation.
This program celebrates their exquisite work and the powerful cultural impact they forged—one that empowered women, enriched Chicago’s artistic identity, and still resonates today.
Presenter: Kathleen Kamal Baum, award‑winning metalsmith and historian, who has exhibited nationally and taught Jewelry, Fashion History, and Art at the College of DuPage for 30 years.
